Amina Khalil on Choosing the Stories Worth Telling

Festivals 19 September 2025 1:13

Amina Khalil reflected on how she chooses the roles she takes on, explaining that she doesn’t approach projects with a specific message or theme in mind. Instead, she looks at the story itself and asks whether it is one that needs to be told.

Speaking during an interview at MedFest, where she was honoured for her work, Khalil also discussed where she finds inspiration, noting that it can come from anywhere. For her, having a safe and comfortable environment where she can be herself — without feeling the need to perform — is just as important.

At the heart of her approach is staying true to herself and being drawn to stories that feel worth bringing to audiences.
